Exploratory projects
At the exploratory stage Biotica investigates tractability of the lead compound to novoPT™ technology and validates the target in the proposed indication(s).
Biotica has three areas of focus for its exploratory projects:

During the exploratory phase, Biotica recruits leading experts to act as advisors in the relevant target and disease areas from industry and academia. Through discussions with these experts and further studies, Biotica puts together a target product profile and a development plan for the project. Biotica proceeds with an exploratory project if there is a clear route to fulfill a clinical unmet need by using generating analogues of the proposed lead compound using novoPT™ technology.
Also during the exploratory phase Biotica undertakes a technical evaluation, which includes:
- Evaluation of any known structure-activity relationships, to establish a chemical plan for optimisation;
- Initial analysis of the producer organism, to ensure that it is tractable to Biotica’s technology and that any resulting compounds will be producible in viable quantities;
- Ensuring that Biotica has a strong IP position protecting the project.
