Focus on core expertise
Biotica’s expertise and IP lie in three areas: genetically sequencing and modifying polyketide-producing bacteria (Molecular Biology), culturing them (Fermentation Microbiology) and then extracting the resulting polyketides and further modifying them (Natural Product Chemistry).
Selection of high-value projects
There are about 5-10,000 polyketides on which Biotica could potentially work. To select the most high value leads from this pool for internal programmes, Biotica uses three key criteria: clinical validation for the chosen target; Biotica exclusivity for the approach and blockbuster potential for the resulting polyketide therapeutic.
