Biotica’s expertise and IP lie in three areas: genetically sequencing and modifying polyketide-producing bacteria (Molecular Biology), culturing them (Fermentation Microbiology) and then extracting the resulting polyketides and further modifying them (Natural Product Chemistry).
Selection of high-value projects
There are more than 2500 polyketides amenable to optimisation by Biotica’s technology. To select the most high value leads from this pool for internal programmes, Biotica uses three key criteria: clinical validation for the chosen target; Biotica exclusivity for the approach and blockbuster potential for the resulting polyketide therapeutic.
