Biotica selects polyketide leads with targets that are difficult for traditional small molecules to address, such as protein-protein interactions. This limits the opportunities for other companies to take market share from Biotica’s polyketide therapeutics. Furthermore, Biotica holds broad technology patents and know-how, which make it difficult for competitors to enter the field.
Project-specific IP
Biotica files patents on the methods and strains used to generate each series of compounds. novoPT™ results in modifications to the parent polyketide that are often not feasible using semi-synthetic chemistry and gives access to novel chemical and IP space, even when a programme is based on a well-known polyketide lead.
