History
Like many successful biotech companies, Biotica began as a university spin-out.
Biotica was founded on the research of two Cambridge University Professors, Peter Leadlay FRS and Jim Staunton FRS. Since then it has grown through a series of collaborations into a successful drug discovery and development company.

1999 Collaboration with Dow AgroSciences on novel spinosads (insecticides)
2002 Venture financing from Biotechnology Value Fund (BVF) and Nordic Biotech
2005 Financing from existing investors and Ziff Asset Management
2006 Collaboration with Wyeth Pharmaceuticals (now Pfizer) on novel rapamycin analogues
2009 Collaboration with GlaxoSmithKline to discover and develop novel erythromycin macrolides
2010 Consolidation of important polyketide engineering IP within Biotica
2012 Biotica moves to new business premises on Granta Park
