Partnering with Biotica

Biotica is an experienced collaboration partner, having worked with leading companies including Pfizer, Wyeth and GlaxoSmithKline

Polyketide therapeutic programmes
Biotica develops its therapeutic programmes to preclinical proof-of-concept and then seeks a partner with therapeutic area and development expertise. Usually partnerships include access for the partner to Biotica’s compound library, a research collaboration using the novoPT technology and a license to develop and commercialise resulting compounds.

Lead optimisation collaborations
Biotica undertakes lead optimisation collaborations around a partner’s polyketide of interest. These usually include a research collaboration and a license to develop and market resulting compounds.

Biotica’s novoPT technology can increase discovery productivity through its ability to optimise leads that might otherwise be considered poor starting points. Natural products identified through library screening may be discarded due to their intractability to conventional chemistry. novoPT generates a library of differentiated derivatives with drug-like properties, enabling access to both chemistries and targets that are often neglected in drug discovery.

Current partnerships
Biotica has succesful ongoing collaborations with two companies:

  • with Wyeth on the nPT-mTOR programme of novel rapamycin analogues
  • with GlaxoSmithKline on the nPT-ery programme of novel erythromycin analogues
